    Have you tested mpich to make sure it works properly? You can try the
    example in the examples/ directory of the source tree. Also - make
    sure the intel compiler works alright. I have had issues with the
    compiler on rh9.

    It sounds like either your compiler is installed incorrectly or mpich
    is incorrectly installed because '-c' is one of the most standard
    options. It tells to compiler just to create an object file.
