Hubert,

The Flash code has been run sucessfully on large linux clusters using
quadrics based interconnects. These systems are typically dual xeon
machines (~2.8 ghz or so) with 4GB of memory. If you are really wanting
to run large problems and are getting 64-bit systems, I would suggest
4GB per processor (8GB total). I'm not sure on what type of interconnect
has the best support under opteron. With 256 processors you would
definitely benifit from a better interconnect. Both quadrics and myrinet
are well supported on x86_64 systems running SUSE linux. I know much
less about infiniband. Hope this helps.
